Broadmoor Hospital: High security £250m site opens in Crowthorne


The new £250m high-security Broadmoor Hospital, treating men confined under the Mental Health Act, has opened. 

Patients and staff have moved into the emergency clinic in Crowthorne, Berkshire, close to its previous 150-year-old Victorian home. 

The structure which has confronted delays was because of open in 2017. 

West London NHS Trust said the site "typifies expectation and recuperation" and would assist it with giving consideration "in a situation fit for the 21st Century". 

The new Broadmoor Hospital incorporates three new ward structures, gardens and a focal structure where patients can participate in exercises. 

Broadmoor is one of three high-security emergency clinics in England.
